Fresh from the Chocolate Capital of the World... America is the First Export Destination for Genuine Swiss Chocolate Brand

Chocolat Frey to Export Switzerland’s #1 Brand for the First Time in Its 120-Year History

Buchs, Switzerland Il est arrivé! Chocolate lovers, from connoisseurs to late-night bingers to sweet-toothed tots, prepare to indulge. For the first time in its 120-year history, Chocolat Frey AG is exporting Switzerland’s number one chocolate brand – and it’s landing first on U.S. shores. Following a recent plant upgrade with state-of-the-art equipment, the popular Swiss chocolatier is, for the first time, able to produce and deliver chocolate world-wide with the same quality and precision that has elevated the brand to its first-place position in the world’s chocolate capital.

The United States is the first export country to benefit from this technology. Until now, the brand has only been available in Switzerland.

“Just as our founding fathers advanced and refined milk chocolate in the 19th century, we’ve continued that pioneering spirit by refining our production processes so that we may share our brand with other countries,” says Wolfgang Brokatzky, company CEO. “We’re very happy to share our fine chocolates with America.”

Americans will immediately notice a major difference between Frey chocolate and more familiar brands – the unusual and surprisingly delicious flavors, such as Rhubarb & Aloe Vera, and Hot Chilli Pepper. With a choice of white, milk, and dark chocolate varietals, Frey offers the world’s most extensive range of chocolates. Each special flavor is infused into the chocolate for a more artistic cocoa expression and a new taste sensation for American palates. Traditionalists need not fear, though. The product list also includes flavors such as Merveille de Lait, Pécan & Caramel, and Noir Satin. In all, Chocolat Frey has shipped eleven gourmet flavors in elegant, slim bars for Americans to sample and savor.

Considered to be the best in the world, genuine Swiss chocolate must be made entirely in Switzerland according to Chocosuisse, the Association of Swiss Chocolate Manufacturers. Frey chocolate is made entirely in Buchs, Switzerland, where the complete process – from treatment of the cocoa beans to creation of the finished confection – occurs. According to Chocosuisse, this Swiss chocolate designation is a “badge of quality.”

The history of Chocolat Frey is almost as old as that of the European chocolate industry. It began in 1887 in the village of Aargau, Switzerland as a small family business run by brothers Max and Robert Frey. Today, Chocolat Frey is one of only 100 bean-to-bar companies in the world. True to its legacy, the company maintains flawless control over the quality and craftsmanship of more than 1,200 chocolate recipes it produces at its sole plant.

Americans already can find 3.5-ounce bars in five of Switzerland’s favorite flavors in Target stores nationwide: Pécan & Caramel, Bouquet d’Oranges, Café & Cacao, Citron & Poivre, and White Blueberry. Also available are 10.5-ounce bars of Swiss Dark Chocolate and Swiss Milk Chocolate.

A special Swiss reserve of six specialty flavors - Hot Chilli Pepper, Noir Satin, Rhubarb & Aloe Vera, Merveille de Lait, Coeur de Macademia, and Noir Authentique - are being offered at select Target stores around the country.

Frey chocolate bars are being imported by Grand Specialties.
